Resolve Address DNS issues

The computer running the Windows Time service client cannot locate the time source peer in Domain Name System (DNS). Resolve issues as necessary on the DNS Server service, and then resynchronize the client with the time source peer and confirm the resynchronization.

To resynchronize the client with the time source peer:

  • Open a command prompt as an administrator.
  • At the command prompt, type the following then press enter:
w32tm /resync
to confirm run the next line
w32tm /query /status

The second command's output indicates whether the synchronization was successful.

To learn more about the Windows Time service and related tools, see Windows Time Service Tools and Settings (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=42984).

1002 - Known Folders

Error 0x80070002 occurred while verifying known folder {b4bfcc3a-db2c-424c-b029-7fe99a87c641} with path 'C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop'.

This error may occur several times with the last folder in the file path changing, i.e. it may read Documents instead of Desktop (as shown above).

Browse to the shown file path and create an empty folder with the same name as the last entry in the file path, i.e. in the above example Desktop is the last entry so create a folder called Desktop.
