Windows Update Problems

Error 80246008 in Windows 7 (Also Works For Vista)

If you receive the above error open the run box and enter:

services.msc

Check that the following two services are running:

COM+ Event System :Automatic (started)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS):Manual or Automatic(Delayed Start)

Reset the backgrounds components for Windows Update

Check This Folder Exists

Make sure that following folder exist

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader

Windows Update Agent

Download the Windows Update Agent suitable for your OS/CPU:

• 32-bit version
• 64-bit version
• Itanium version

Create the folder:

C:\WUAGENT

Copy the Windows Update Agent file to the folder

Run the following command (allowing for which CPU type you are running):

Windows Command Prompt:

C:\WUAGENT\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce
